About this blog and the blogger
This blog is all about varapuzha village, it’s surroundings, it’s people, their happiness, sorrows, dreams, past, future, sun, flora, fauna………everything about Varapuzha. I reflect on Varapuzha through this blog, and I love it. Why am i doing this?. There is no profound reason behind it. I just love it !. This helps me to get out of the structured corporate world to the naked, original world of the ordinary Indian, and their lives. That feeling itself is a great leveller.
Like any other child of Varapuzha, I had a wonderful child hood here. I had my loving grand parents, then parents, my friends. Unlike today, our vacations were action packed with kuttiyum kolum, dramas, cricket (tennis ball), shuttle badminton, movies at the local Davison theatre and Sri Durga theatre. During the whole process, even our friend’s parents showered their love upon us. Oh! I forgot to tell you, we of course had some wonderful, yet quiet and serene romances, without the internet !
Please bear with the spelling mistakes and the grammatical mistakes, as the mail reviewer of this site, my darling daughter is busy with her studies at the hostel. I am sure that, the memoent she is back, she will have tons of comments to make on my english and my impatience to do a review of my work, before publishing it. I enjoy it.

About Varapuzha
Varapuzha is a village in Kerala state of Southern India and is fast emerging as town. Varapuzha is situated on the banks of Periyar river. You can reach varapuzha by rail, road and air. The nearest railway stations are Alwaye (10km away), Ernakulam (9 km away). If you have to reach Varapuzha by road, you have to take a right turn at Edappally, which is on the NH 47. Edappally is situated between Alwaye and Ernakulam. There are boat services from Ernakulam to Varapuzha and it takes around 1 hour 15 minutes and costs 5 rupees. This is a very pleasant boat ride. If you have time to spare, take this route. The CIAL (Cochin International Airport) is nearly 20km away. The easiest way to reach Varapuzha from the airport ids to take a pre-paid taxi from the airport and it will cost you around 380 Rs.
This blog on varapuzha is the result of U2R, whose aim is to provide urban facilities to rural India !. In India most of the cities have their own web sites and this is our attempt to emulate that for a village of India.

i am joseph from varapuzha my eml is joseph24@gmail.com
Both my Parents were born in Varapuzha. I came there first as a child and then as a teenager. it was a bit like heaven. The relatives who pinched my cheeks till they hurt and the complete feeling of belonging. I am a resident of England and cannot wait to bring my 3 kids there for an extended summer holiday next year. I still have my cousins there and that sense of attachment is so strong even though I was not born or brought up in Kerala.
The smells and the memories still make me emotional and most of all the fact that my parents did return although only to be buried in the churchyard in Puthenpally – the most beautiful place on earth!!
